Is Football on your Screen?
UCONN’s year-round indoor football venue, the Burton Family Complex, conditioned by reflect-O-ray infrared, is part of the energy conservation UCONN has adopted when heating facilities on their campuses.
A Reflect-O-Ray, engineered design system was selected by engineers for the complex because it could be tailored to meet the particular requirements of the 165,000 sq ft facility.
It was the first university in the nation to earn LEED designation meeting a wide range of environmentally friendly criteria.
A domed roof, 65 feet above the field, combined with the 100 yd length of the field, required 12 radiant, 360,000 B/H natural gas burners to fire the 6” tubes that were 140 ft long.
Infrared heat offered UCONN the most efficient system for their new facility and obtained for the University their LEED silver certification.
